FOR THE RECORD UPDATE

... During my investigating of this ordeal of who owned the GLASS HOUSE and who was deciding to sell it to CVS i was told that it was Mr. Feldman that still owned the GLASS HOUSE and not Murphy (who was the owner of MacPherson's Pharmacy) ... At first I was told Murphy owned it. Then when I asked him, he told me that he did not own it ... Then I was told it was Feldman's wife (or ex wife) that owned it ... I kept getting the run around.

... Anyway I finally got Feldman on the phone he told me it was just time to sell it. So I told him to sell it to me and he said "I cant do that". Whether I had the money or not is irrelevant because he never once even told me the asking price ... I was later told that CVS was not gonna do the deal unless the GLASS HOUSE was part of the deal ... CVS wanted the entire block.

... Now regardless of who owned it, no one cared to save it or at least try. I even kept asking the local news station KGBT to please do a story about it. But they never called back to follow up until 2 months later which I thought was odd because I told them the demolishing of the Glass House was around the corner ... So Mayor Boswell did not care, the City Counsel did not care, nor did the local TV station.

NOT WORTH THE SACRIFICE

Its taken me a while to post but here are some pics of what the area now looks like ...

What you will see in these pics are:

1.  proof that the GLASS HOUSE could have stayed where it was without getting in the way of CVS
2.  proof that the parking lot is way too big for a CVS in that location ... Its Not a WalMart
3.  proof that CVS never intended to put their marquee in that corner spot as they originally told me.
3.  proof that CVS never gave a shit about the future of THE GLASS HOUSE

At any given moment when Im down in Harlingen I drive by that area and NEVER do I see any cars parked in the spots where the GLASS HOUSE once stood. OK actually once I did see 3 trucks parked there but they were there because they were doing business across the street on that side of the lot and decided to park there and walk across ... But that had nothing to do with CVS.

CVS and THE GLASS HOUSE could have co-existed peacefully without any doubt whatsoever. But the bottom line as I keep saying is that NO ONE CARED to save THE GLASS HOUSE. Not CVS, not the Mayor of Harlingen, not the MacPhereson's family, not Murphy who owned the land where CVS now stands and from what I was told also owned the land where the GLASS HOUSE was. Some argue that he never owned it and it was MacPhereson that owned but bottom line they all DID NOT CARE.
And to think the City of Harlingen had a Centennial Celebration coming up and they allowed this historic building to be bulldozed all for nothing. Trust me CVS will be out of that area in a couple of years. They will sell it, make a huge profit and the GLASS HOUSE suffered the sacrifice.
Tell me, do you think this historic building that once stood in this location since the 1930's was worth tearing down all for a couple parking spaces and some green space ? .... WHAT A SCAM !

Original Story in the ARCHIVES

**DONT FORGET TO VISIT THE ARCHIVES SECTION AND READ HOW THIS ALL GOT STARTED SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHERE IM COMING FROM.

The Glass House IS GONE

... Well I guess it was just a rumor after all that the Glass House was going to be saved as it was finally Bulldozed into a pile of history. I'd like to thank MAYOR BOSWELL of Harlingen Texas for NOT giving a shit about this historic building and doing nothing to save it.

Im sure his good friend Mike Murphy the previous owner of MacPherson's Pharmacy is thankful to him and to the City Commissioners for NOT INTERFERING with the negotiations with CVS which bought the property that THE GLASS HOUSE was on, making way for yet another BIG BOX PHARMACY that Harlingen has too many of already.

**For the record my issue with all this was not CVS buying the lot and building there but that THE GLASS HOUSE could have been saved and allowed to stay where it was just like the past 90+ years, but now its gone. Now what stands in its place are grass, shrubs, and a light post

The City of Harlingen recently celebrated its Centennial Birthday and MAYOR BOSWELL had the balls to talk about the rich History the City has to offer yet he did nothing to save this Historic Building that actually qualified to be registered as a Historic site.

MAYOR BOSWELL has talked a lot about the progress the City has made over the past 100 years. But lets get one thing straight, progress is NOT about removing its History.

Yeah this little building didn't look like much but it was part of the Historical beginnings of Harlingen Texas

... Goodbye GLASS HOUSE

... Is There Hope ??

Rumor has it that CVS might want to preserve the GLASS HOUSE after all.
...What I hear is that they might DEED the property back the City of Harlingen.
In exchange CVS will want some recognition for donating back to the city.
... Like some Plaque on the building

I think this is a Win Win for all parties involved, but again this is only rumor.
